A Field Trip to Gould Lake

On Mon. Sept 16. 2013 My class went on a field trip to Gould Lake. Our instructors names were Dan and Jade. They took us on a hike. In the middle of the hike they stopped, and told us that we were splitting into groups. One group would try and make fire, with the bow drill, and steal and stone, the other made a shelter for a chipmunk!

I did the chipmunk shelter first. My group and Jade hiked a bit further...
Once we got there Jade explained to the group what we were doing, (making a shelter for a chipmunk! ) and how we were testing them! ( They were being tested by seven 5 pound sand bags! ) Mine was half pre built because there were two rocks leaning on each other! I built it out of sticks, rocks and leaves. I put a bunch of sticks on it first then lots of leaves for insulation, and the rocks were to keep the leaves tight. When it was time to test them only one part fell, but it was only camouflaging the door! In the end it probably got destroyed by the next group, but it did survive the sand bags. I wanted to work on it more though! I was sad to leave.... Frowny face! And it looked all the better with the help of Logan and Gage! And that is how we built our shelter!
